In 2023 Calico House was modernised with a full internal refurbishment with features such as passenger lift, and the service has been appointed to the highest specifications to provide a space and welcoming environment for our guests. Calico House combines all the modern facilities required for outstanding respite care within a delightful and tranquil setting. There is also a spacious dining kitchen and conservatory, and a bright spacious lounge - the social hub of Calico House.
Safety lighting, handrails, nurse call system, secure door entry system, and a host of other features have been seamlessly woven into the fabric of the building. We provide genuine nursing care for those who are living with long term conditions, disabilities where more complex medical support is required. Our dedicated nursing team provide a person focused approach, ensuring all medical needs are met and that conditions can be managed professionally.
Calico House prides itself in its warm and friendly atmosphere. Respite and short stay breaks are available to adults aged 18 years and over, with learning/physical disabilities, including those with complex needs. Our team of professional and experienced staff are committed to providing a quality, person centred service for guests and their families, to enjoy a positive and meaningful short break.
The maintenance of mental and physical activity is a corner stone of Calico House's ethos. Our care team ensures that each guest is provided with an appropriate activity routine, augmented by regular excursions in our wheelchair adapted vehicle. Shopping trips to local towns, sight-seeing in the Campsie hills and landscapes that surround Calico House. We are truly blessed with what's right on our doorstep. There's plenty to entertain and occupy, even our most active guests. Additional service also help promote social and mental activity for physical well-being, we can arrange regular visiting hairdressing, physio therapy, chiropody, dental and optical services.

Our out of hours service operates outwith normal working hours. Out of these hours we have a dedicated 24/7 on call service which is automatically directed to the on call Manager via our main office number.
